Oakhill Zoo Crew

Both Leslie and I went on Jack's class field trip to the Kansas City Zoo yesterday. It was a great day for it, not too hot with clouds and some breeze.

Jack and his good bud Jake set off on the first assignment — to tour Africa. All of Africa.

Some of Jack's teachers.

Ridin' a rhino.

Waiting for the tram after lunch (looks like Jack was starting to get tired).

How ironic — the meerkats enjoyed watching all the visitors.

Cuddle partners.

A heap of lemurs.

After the sea lion show, we carried Jack to the car. His eyes were shut before we even got out the gate. Later, when we asked Jack what his favorite part was, he said, "All the animals."

Sorry to say this, but I dislike zoos. Seeing wild animals caged up and on "display". In a way, it's sort of sad. I know the animnals are not happy being out of their natural element.

Wow! It is cool how you went on a field trip. I love your pictures! They are so exotic. I love the one of the tiger. it looks so cool.

don't listen to BLAZER PROPHET. His comment was not very nice about your post. Besides, when they send animals to zoo's it is because they need help in the wild or because they need to be cared for. Not to mention they take excellent care of the animals.

I love zoos! As a matter of fact, 9 out of 10 people say that they prefer seeing a lion close up in a zoo.

Those in favor of zoos: In favor of excellent animal care and welfare, conservation, education and research that collectively inspires respect for animals and nature.

Those not in favor of zoos: Live in a time warp and see the early 1900s version of zoos. Let's release the animals to the wild. Because unrestricted animal management has led to such success stories as the African Elephant and the Bengal Tiger.
