"Trophy tour," take two

Tonight was Kansas City's turn, as Coach Tjeerdsma is making the rounds to celebrate Northwest's national championship at special alumni events in several major markets.

President Jasinski is everywhere! He immediately grabbed Landon and held him for probably five minutes.

Jackson got Coach T's autograph...

...but we settled for a picture.

Northwest in Nebraska

Landon and I ran up to Nebraska at the end of last week, to attend a Northwest Missouri State University alumni event in Omaha.

Two of my nieces, Schuyler and Lexi, came to see us at Mom's house that afternoon. Having an after-school snack...

A member of their varsity basketball team as a sophomore, Schuyler was headed to her sub-district game that night.

Landon got to go to Schuyler's basketball game, too (where he also saw Aunt Laurie, Cici Ninny and Cousin Dani). Thanks for babysitting, Mom and Lexi!

Bennington's school color is royal blue. And they won!

The real reason I came — Coach Tjeerdsma's national championship "trophy tour" at the Omaha Marriott.

Saying goodbye Friday morning.

Presidents' Day

To celebrate, the boys and I went to the all-American (and free!) Cabela's.

Our first stop, and Jackson's favorite — the aquariums.

Landon making "fish lips."

Fishin' buddies.

When looking at these pictures, Jack wondered why he had antlers coming out of his head. Then we reminded him that he was in the mule deer museum.

While we were wandering around, a really nice older employee gave Jackson five free tokens to the shooting gallery upstairs!

We still need to work on that form.

Lefty.

Our last stop (before naptime): the African diorama.

Turning our pantry...

into a mantry!

But one of my favorite parts of our dry-goods do-over, are these "racing lights" I installed inside both sides of the door!

Landon's TV debut

The local NBC affiliate came over last night during our Parents As Teachers visit, for a story about proposed state-wide budget cuts. It was the second story on the 10 o'clock news.

President's counsel

The Northwest Alumni Association held its annual Presidents' Council meeting on Saturday, to bring together presidents of all the alumni chapters. We were fortunate to have University President, Dr. Jasinski, stop by to speak to us.

Our ice-breaker activity at the beginning of the workshop.
