The Fall Classic

Gettin' our tailgate on.

Shelly, Alex and Susan.

Shaun grillin' it old school.

After some time, I headed toward the Northwest Alumni Association tent. Walking through the parking lot, I ran into Angie who also used to work at Bernstein-Rein (she has a niece who's currently a sophomore at Northwest).

Emeritus President Dr. Hubbard, Mrs. Hubbard and new President Dr. Jasinski.

Pretty in pink.

I loved getting to catch up with people, many who I haven't seen or talked to in years. Here's my academic adviser from college and his wife, "Mother Mary."

Mason — who just turned 1 — and his grandma, Mrs. T.

I was the convocation speaker when Kyle first entered Northwest as a freshman and I've really enjoyed following his college career since. (From neighboring hometowns in Nebraska, our families go to church together; his mom played the organ at my sister's wedding!) He's been drum major in the Bearcat Marching Band for the past two years, is engaged, is graduating this year ... and can now grow a beard.

Bonnie and Steve with their grandson, Jack.

Almost time to head into the stadium.

When Leslie was in college, she worked together with Ron on campus and he's Meredith's uncle. We see him and his wife once a year, every year — at Arrowhead Stadium.

The National Anthem, from BearcatBlitz.com.

Alex, Shane and Susan.

Two of my favorite pics from The Kansas City Star, taken by Shane Keyser.

Neal, Alex and Shane.

We won — 30 to 10!
